J & L and SnoSan

We absolutely love J & L Distillery, and have been bringing friends there since we first moved to Boulder. They have a variety of spirits (Gin, Vodka, and FYR Liqueur) and make a ton of killer cocktails. We were excited to hear that they leaned into the new “normal” and began making hand sanitizer to aid during the pandemic. We wanted to share with you a bit about the company itself and our personal connection to it, as well as all the deets on why SnoSan is not only good for sanitizing, but also good for your skin!

The Distillery

We almost always stop at J&L on our distillery/brewery bike tour in Boulder. It’s been a favorite for a few reasons- the great quality spirits, fun cocktails and the fact that the owner is so passionate about his craft. There’s always something new or seasonal to enjoy. We particularly love the Beet Down, for it’s vibrant purple color and bright flavors. The tasting room at J&L has been closed for quite some time due to renovations, and then the pandemic was upon us.

SnoSan

When Covid hit, J&L Distilling Company began making hand sanitizer. Ethyl alcohol was scarce but founder, Seth Johnson, was poised for the transition with a still capable of turning 350 gallons of what was meant to be whiskey into hand sanitizer. At that time, packaging was very scarce, so Nestlé donated 20,000 bottles, and the community of Boulder rallied together to help bottle and label the first batch. J&L donated SnoSan to the first responders and healthcare workers on the frontline.

The SnoSan pivot has been featured in over 25 news articles and was awarded Denver Post’s most read stories of the year for 2020. SnoSan is available at over 30 locations across Colorado and supplied to The Denver Zoo, Triad School District in Illinois, and Downtown Boulder as well as being sold online.

The main selling point for us, though, was that there’s science behind why SnoSan is a better hand sanitizer than the rest. It is made from non-toxic ethyl alcohol, which is proven to be safe for your skin, while effectively killing germs. The alcohol used in SnoSan is also hypoallergenic and is so high quality that it doesn’t build up residue on your hands! As healthcare workers, we understand the importance of effective hand sanitizer (we use it upwards of 50 times per day). We also know how much it can dry out and crack your skin, which is why finding a quality sanitizer is super important. We’ve loved using SnoSan and are excited to share it with you, not only in connection with one of our favorite Boulder distilleries but also because it is so necessary given the current climate.

Stay safe, keep your hands clean with SnoSan, wear a mask, and we can’t wait to see you all on the other side of this Pandemic. You can check out more about SnoSan on their website, www.snosan.com.
